Tree Protection Policy For Private Trees

trees-1A large tree on a lot can seriously restrict your ability to add on to or build a new house.  In the City of Toronto, most trees that are at least 30 centimeters in circumference cannot be approved to be removed.   Depending on the width of a tree, a house has to be a minimum distance away.  There are also strict guidelines on how a tree must be protected when building near a tree.  For more information please see the attached file from the City of Toronto.
